The Fat Olive country restaurant

The Fat Olive Country Restaurant has changed locations a few times before settling in its new home at Stornoway Lodge.  But the loyal customer base that have followed Tom Goldie and his team around the Lanseria / Lammermoor area is testament to the outstanding food and service you can expect at the Fat Olive.

This owner run restaurant serves generous helpings of fine country cooking in a relaxed countryside setting with both indoor and outdoor seating options.  The expansive patio overlooks the large natural dam which attracts a wide array of bird life and draws the eye over the tree tops to the distant Magaliesberg Mountains.

The Food

Tom Goldie has a love for simple fresh food, cooked in a traditional way and using authentic methods with a modern twist. Enjoy hearty winter fare such as slow roasted lamb shanks braised in red wine and rosemary or the speciality crumbed pork chops with a tangy honey and mustard sauce. The menu is prepared daily according to seasonal availability and painstakingly displayed in Tom’s own handwriting on the blackboard menus that have become his signature.

The starters include aged brie wrapped in phyllo served with fig preserve, prawn tempura, Falkland calamari with chouricco and sundried tomato and delicious creamy snails.

Decadent desserts celebrate chocolate with bar one sauce and ice-cream, delectable brownies, traditional bread and butter pudding with custard and Portuguese style crème caramel.
